YAY!

So I am officially caught up on my entries, at least the 7 by 7 list. Since this project started, I have eaten some really great things but my waist line is kind of mad at me. I need to work on that....at least I have one thing checked off.

Papalote Mexican Grill

The chips and salsa was on the list of 100 things to try before you die. And I am glad I am able to check this one off, there is something really good about the salsa. I know they make it with roasted tomatoes but there is something else there, that I can't put my finger on it. I guess I will just use it to lick the salsa container clean. This place is also known for their triple threat burrito. It has chicken, shrimp and steak...that could be dangerous.

Anthony's Cookies

I had the cookies and cream cookie and well I have to say it was good but I have had better. Don't get me wrong it's a good cookie but I am not sure why it is on 7 by 7's list. The cookie did have the crunchy outside and chewy middle which was really yummy. I preferred the toffee chip cookie.

Kings Bakery Cafe

Maybe I just have been spoiled but the coconut buns are kind of overrated. They are good and the bread is soft and the coconut isn't overly sweet. It is well worth the 50 cents.

Humphry Slocombe

The secret breakfast flavor is made up of bourbon and cornflakes (breakfast of champions). You can definitely taste the bourbon and a hint of saltiness from the cornflakes. It is creamy and the texture from the cornflakes and kick from the bourbon does add a nice surprise. Get it on the cone, the crunchiness only adds to the flavor of the ice cream.

San Tung

So these chicken wings, I am not quite sure how I feel about them. They are good and the sauce is something familiar but there is also something different about it. It tastes kind of like a sweet and spicy sauce but there's a crunch to the sauce as well. It's like some of the sugars have caramelized. I think this one might be another thing that has become overrated but you should try it for yourself. I think I have been spoiled and I am just picky about my Chinese food. But I would recommend giving it a try.

Balompie Cafe

The pupusas are delicious. The pork and cheese one is really good. We also got the ground beef and cheese but it is pretty close to the pork and cheese. I would stick with the pork one because it's a bit cheaper. All of the pupusas are cheap.

I am kinda of shock to say this but I want to go back and try the veggie and cheese one. I think it just might be better than the meat and cheese one, considering I am in a constant fight with veggies. Eat the slaw and the pupusa together, the tanginess from the slaw combined with the rich melty goodness of the cheese is literally a party in your mouth. The girl that works the counter is super sweet

Limon Rotisserie

The rotisserie chicken was listed as one of the things to eat before you die and I can see why. It is so tender and exploding with flavor. To some, it might be a bit salty but eat with rice or the tacu tacu and problem solved. The sauces that come with the chicken is so good. There was a roasted red pepper and chili sauce, a yellow chili and the chimichurri. If those sauces were available to be mixed with my veggies, I would definitely eat a whole lot more veggies. It might defeat the healthiness of the veggies but make them taste so much better. I looked at the dishes that were other people's tables and they look yummy too. They should be glad I didn't reach over and grab some.

Ike's Place

This may be too much information but whatever. I had a food-gasm. OMG. If I could find a boy that can make me feel like what Ike's sandwiches does to me...OMG! I had the menage a trois. The sandwich is best eaten hot and just get everything on it but don't change anything unless you are allergic to something. Ike knows what he is doing. I being the silly girl decided to add mozzarella sticks, don't do it. It was good but the sandwich would have been even more amazing without it. I am still thinking about the sandwich.

Miette's Ginger Snaps

Ginger snaps have a nice surprise to them. I am usually not a fan of them because well I don't really like ginger except on sushi. Back to the point, it's on the 7 by 7 list so I had to give it a shot. I have to say it's good, not something I would crave but overall a good cookie. I like how when you first bite into it, its sweet with a hint of ginger but as you are chewing it some more the flavor of the ginger becomes stronger. The flavor of ginger does give your mouth a nice kick but not too hard

Pagolac

I love beef so naturally I would try the 7 courses of beef. It was good but definitely it didn't do the beef justice. It is an experience that you should try but I don't think I would do a repeat of it. The first course was good if you like cilantro and onions and was sweeter than expected. The second and third course was tricky because there was cooking of the rice paper which isn't hard in nature really except when the bowl is too small. The rest of the courses were good but nothing too exciting. I think the fourth was the beef on a skewer. The fifth was a beef sausage wrapped in some green veggie. The sixth was the beef and onion roll. The last course is a porridge. Overall, another good meal and another thing checked off the list but I am not sure if there will be another repeat.

Delfina

Everything was delicious! It's a beautiful space filled with fun people and scrumptious food. I went with a group of six and it was so much fun. Go with a group so everyone can try a little of everything. The short ribs were fall of the bone goodness and they just melt in your mouth. The gnocci were so fluffy and eaten with a bite of tomato and cheese and it was a party in your mouth (and I don't even like tomatoes). The papadelle with pork sugo was what I got and I can understand why it's on the list. The papadelle just brought me back to Rome. You can taste the love that went into making it. It was delicious!

Bob's Donut

The apple fritters are a must and a great way to end the night. They are sweet but not so sweet that they hurt and there is a crunch to it. It is good the next day as well. The lady that works there is super sweet and the treats are cheap. After a night of booze and bad decisions, end it with a good decision and stop by Bob's.

La Taqueria

So if SJ has La Vic's and their orange sauce, then SF has La Taqueria and their green sauce. I am sure it is just a salsa verde but it is necessary condiment to making the food here taste even better. Got the carnita and chorizo tacos and ask thm to make it crunchy. It was so delicious and I am not even a real big fan of Mexican food. I preferred the chroizo, the kick from the meat and salsa was a party in my mouth. There was beans which i usually don't like but it help balance some of the heat. Great way to start the night.

Saigon Sandwich

I got the roasted pork sandwich which means another check on the 7 by 7 list. Don't get me wrong, it's a good sandwich but I am not sure it is the best. I think I have been spoiled because of all the different places by where I live that sells Vietnamese sandwiches. It is a good bang for your buck but nothing special about it.

Turtle Tower

The pho ga warms your soul. Like every other day in the city, it was breezy. The broth just warms you up from the inside out. The broth was on the salty side but still really good. I would recommend drinking more water. This place serves pho differently than from what I normally get. There wasn't any sprouts or basil and there wasn't any hoisin sauce. It was different but definitely in a good way.

Catch up...

So I need to multitask better because it has been way too long since my last post. This whole thing is still kinda new to me. I just need to make it a routine like other things in my life but that's another story. There are so many new things I have to write about so to catch up and not spend my whole life in front of the computer screen, I am going to cheat and use some of my Yelp reviews. You got to give me credit for killing two birds with one stone. The goal is by the end of this week I will have it done. Cross your fingers and toes.

The eating continues.

So I have checked off some more places on my list. I think I will also expand this experiment to include my thoughts in general. Yes, I do think I am that cool; people will care about what I say and think. If not, it's a good outlet for me and clearly the world revolves around me.
